AI saved me after I forgot to pick up my son from school

I had forgotten to pick up my son.

My seven-year-old’s teacher called. I had missed an announcement about an early dismissal. I am a type A person with two kids and a full-time job leading communications at a tech company, and I still almost broke under the volume of school and activity email. I launched that tool as DailyNest, an app that turns school and activity email into one daily briefing so parents can start the day from one place. Other families started paying to use it. What began as a fix for us became a small business.

I have not missed anything important since. At 7 am, I get an email, and at the top is anything I need to know for that day: the right shirt for theme day, the $2 for the school book fair, whatever it is.

The stress is lower. I stopped carrying the low-grade fear that something was slipping through.

Other parents started sending proof back. Becky, a Greenwich mom with three kids under six across two schools, got a Mother’s Day breakfast on her briefing. She had no idea it was happening. She had deleted the original school email and couldn’t even find it afterward. DailyNest had already read it. She made it to the event. Step 3: Pick the solution that feels compelling, then work with Claude to vibe-code it. Step 4: Use it yourself first with your co-parent, and keep feeding Claude feedback to improve the process. Step 5: Once it works well, open it to friends. That is how DailyNest became an actual business.
