Before
I was trying to identify good equities to invest in programmatically. I was using n8n, an AI workflow automation platform, but the workflows became cumbersome pretty quickly. It worked to a point, but whenever I wanted to change something important, like switching APIs, it started to feel like a hassle.
Instead of moving quickly, I was getting slowed down by the setup itself. That made the whole process feel more rigid than it should have been, especially when I wanted to experiment, improve things, or adapt my approach without creating extra friction.
What changed
I got Claude Code to write the code for me so I could call the APIs directly, run the calculations I needed, and write the results into Google Sheets.
That was the turning point, because I was no longer stuck working around the limits of a cumbersome workflow. Instead of trying to force everything through n8n, I had AI help me build something more direct and adaptable. With that setup, changing APIs and updating the logic became much simpler, and I could iterate on the workflow much faster without the same hassle-factor.
Outcome
I was able to switch APIs really easily, which immediately made the whole system more flexible. More broadly, I became much more agile and nimble in how I worked. Instead of feeling boxed in by the original setup, I could make improvements to my codebase with a lot less friction.
That made it easier to keep refining the workflow, test new ideas, and move faster overall. The biggest result was not just technical convenience, but the sense that improving and maintaining the system no longer felt like such a burden.
