Before
We moved into a new apartment in New York City and started seeing bugs. The building had a monthly exterminator sign-up, but even after a few months, nothing changed. The exterminator showed a lot of confidence in solving the problem but wasn't effective. We still had bugs in the kitchen.
What changed
I asked AI how to deal with the problem. Specifically, I wanted to understand whether this was an isolated issue in our apartment or something coming from outside.
I asked it to train me to think like my own exterminator so I could diagnose the situation myself.
Outcome
I learned that the first step was to identify the source by laying traps. I was surprised to find many more bugs in hidden spots on the opposite side of the kitchen from where we were seeing them. That was a big insight.
From there, I realized I needed a handyman to pull out the stove and refrigerator, clean up the source, and seal off entry points from other apartments.
That ended up being the real fix. The exterminator had been spraying repellent in the wrong places, which wasn’t solving the problem.
Net/net, the kitchen is clean, my wife is happy. All good.

AI saved my health decisions
