A dog owner used AI to connect unexplained symptoms and work with a vet to confirm Cushing’s disease.

I had a feeling something was wrong, and using AI helped me stop guessing and understand what to look for.

Before

My dog, Chloe, started showing a mix of symptoms that didn’t seem to connect.

I was working with my vet, but I still felt like something wasn’t being connected.

I knew something was off, but I didn’t have a clear direction on what to ask or what might be causing it.

What changed

I described a few of Chloe’s most recent symptoms to ChatGPT and asked what might explain them.

It suggested several possible conditions, with Cushing’s disease listed as the most likely.

I didn’t treat that as a diagnosis. I used it as a starting point.

I didn’t stop there. I went to Google and reviewed the symptoms of Cushing’s from a veterinary source, and realized Chloe had been showing many of them over time.

That gave me the confidence to call my vet and ask about testing for Cushing’s specifically.

Outcome

The vet confirmed Chloe had Cushing’s disease after testing, which explained the symptoms that hadn’t been connecting before.

Being able to ask about it directly changed the conversation. Instead of guessing, I was able to focus on something specific and move forward more quickly.

Chloe later passed due to heart complications, but using AI helped me understand what was happening and helped me take action sooner than I otherwise would have.

What changed for me is how I approach problems. I learned that AI can help you think more clearly and spot possibilities you might miss. It’s most valuable when you use it to ask better questions and work alongside professionals, not replace them.

How to try this yourself

1. Describe symptoms clearly - Write out recent symptoms in plain language

2. Generate possible explanations - Ask ChatGPT what conditions could explain the symptoms

3. Narrow down possibilities - Focus on conditions that match closely

4. Validate with trusted sources - Compare symptoms using veterinary websites

5. Bring a hypothesis to your vet - Ask about testing for a specific condition

6. Use AI as a guide, not a diagnosis - Treat outputs as direction for better questions, not answers
